Summer Busyness

This summer we are getting a couple of students from Japan. I am SO excited about this. I studied Japanese for 3 years 6 years ago now and haven’t been able to practice it. I know the student will be here just for a couple of weeks to learn English so I don’t want to jeopardize her learning experience by speaking Japanese. But I’m sure it will help me out if we have any language barriers.

I decorated her room with a bright orange comforter. It has splashes of neon green, white and yellow in it too…bright colors are energizing so I’m hoping that will help with her jet leg. I hung up a picture of a photo I took. It’s of a brook running through some trees and grass. I brightened the photo too, so the green shades are a brighter green-to match her comforter. I set up my old stereo system in there with books separating each speaker, that she is welcome to try reading. I may even let her bring one home if she gets into it. One of the books is: "White Fang".

The first student’s name is Rika. She is 18 and enjoys cooking. She said she wants to cook us Japanese food, but most of all she wants us to eat it. haha we thought that was so cute. OF COURSE we’ll eat it!!! I love ethnic foods!

I have a real busy day ahead of me tomorrow (Wednesday) as this is my cleaning day AND the student arrives around the time I’m still cleaning, so I’m going to try to work real fast, and if I wake up before 10-start earlier than I usually do.

My bedtime is: 1am and I like to wake up at 10am. Although, I’ll be responsible for eating breakfast with the student, so this may be a good routine for me. I’ve decided breakfast will be at: 8am-as Jeff plans to leave with her around 830am on his way to the office. I like driving my car to the office so I can leave whenever I need to.
ENTER SCATTERBRAIN RAMPAGE
Once Jeff gets on that phone-there’s no telling when he’ll have a next free moment and this is hard. But the last couple days we’ve actually been able to have lunch together, despite all the sales calls he’s been getting-now that he launched the more colorful site (our business’s site can be found here.). It use to be just a plain looking site made up of two colors. Anyhow, I think the new look is great! But then again I like change.
END OF SCATTERBRAIN (according to dictionary.com "scatterbrain" is defined as: a person incapable of serious, connected thought. although this scatteredness WAS a "serious" thought.)
I have agreed to pick the student up. So this should work out great!

So as I do have a busy day tomorrow and actually probably for the next couple weeks. I’ve been working lots at the office-we’ve gotten so many new clients lately-and that means more websites for me to work on. My main job is transferring all the client’s existing information onto their new site. After an hour I get to the point where I can’t keep my eyes open-so I have to get up and do something else for a bit.

Back to what I was saying…busy, aw yes that’s right. And I’ll be busy when the student’s finished her classes with taking her out shopping, touring around, showing her things, or just helping her with her homework. Should be a lot of fun! (a side thought: Maybe she’ll like tennis?) I’ll probably take her on walks around too-like for example show her the exact spot I took the photo that’s hanging up in her room.

We are experiencing another heat wave here-and boy are my legs ever telling me this. They use to only ache before it rained. Now they ache when there’s just a HUGE weather change. (technically aren’t all changes in weather, on the West Coast in British Columbia Canada, huge?) The last two days-but today especially they have been aching so bad that I just want to cut them off.

Have you ever had aches so bad that you wanted to cut that part of your body off?

I still was able to get a run in though tonight-had to, because I ate way too much today. I hate this time of the month, because only my "sweet" taste buds seem to work properly. Seriously, everything else tastes rotten. Before when I didn’t know that I had this distinction I would tell waitresses in restaurants "I think this is rotten" and get the dish sent back. oh dear. and all along it was me. So now I make sure I have Jeff taste the dish when I think it’s bad-if he says it’s good-then I KNOW it’s close to that time AGAIN!

Anyhow gotta to hit the hay, have a happy summer-until I post again. (I hope to do that soon-with pics of the student and us.)
