Training For the “Police Challenge” Race
Well, tonight I went to the first day of my running clinic. It was hard. I know it won’t sound hard, but it was painful.
I’m glad I got a job there too, because a lot of things are expensive and I love my discount. Now I just have to wait for my employee discount to kick in and then I’m set to buy out the store. YAY!!! I already have a list of things I need to get. Like new shorts, for my uniform, new running shoes with mesh so my feet breathe and maybe even a new watch. Did you know that they even have mesh hats? I love it!!! Today, I asked what I should where to run in? And I was told to go buy Vector cereal. So I did, the one with the shirt on the box. and brought it back. They cut the thing off the box and asked what color and what size I wanted, and here I thought it was just a coupon, but you know it was actually a FREE shirt!! Regularly, the shirt is 40 dollars!!! But I got it free. AND there’s no limit!!! You can bring in as many Vector cereal Free shirt coupons as you want and I guess it’s while quantities last. So next time I go running, I will wear it !!! Woohoo…
So, after I came home I recruited my husband and Goomba to come with me to get more. (they’re on sale at Save-On) I had to. The boxes were on the top shelf and I wanted a lot of them. So they came and now we have 5 boxes. Jeff, my husband, loves the shirt too and of course wanted one. So tomorrow I will go back and get us more shirts, FREE. I’m so happy about that!!! and you know they are not just any type of shirt either, and that’s why they were recommended, they are made with Cool Max material.
Tonight, I get to play with my new job’s website and once I receive a password and username in the mail I’ll be able to check my schedule on there, which is so cool!!! I LOVE IT!!! Oh btw, this clinic normally costs 69.99 dollars, but I get to do it FREE, as far as I know. Oh am I ever loving this. And guess what we are all training for??? Our city’s Police Challenge (The Race the Police do)!! WOW! This is exciting!! Normally this isn’t the case but we are privileged, and this will be in September. So I’m training for 2 months to do this, WOW!!! Did you know that after the first 2 weeks we increase the kilometers that we run by 5? Yup, that’s right! This will definitely be a challenge, yikes.
So this clinic taught me how to start running, in order to train for races and marathons. We ran and walked for 90 minutes which included hills. OUCH!! That was hard, but at least I had others around me helping me out, that was SO nice. In the beginning we had to introduce ourselves and explain to everyone why we were there so I said,
"Hi, I’m Demara. I have planned to lose 100 pounds by March 2008. About a month and a half ago I changed my lifestyle and since then have lost over 10 pounds, Yup! just by mostly changing my diet."
Everyone seemed impressed. and Everyone was very supportive. It was GREAT!! There were about 14 of us, 13 ladies and 1 man. Our Coach, now my boss, who really isn’t our Coach but is like the Sub. right now because our Coach was in a car accident yesterday…was so very encouraging. She is such a fun person!!!
And everyone there, at the store, that I’ll be working with are VERY sarcastic. I am not THAT sarcastic so this will take some getting use to.
Anyhow, I had a great time. And will continue to, by doing this 3 times a week. Next Friday or was it Sunday, shoot I can’t remember now, is buddy day, where we are allowed to bring someone who may be interested in doing the clinic, just so they can see what it’s all about. Anyone interested?
Now with all this running, and working I’m not sure I’ll have much time to play volleyball, we’ll see though. I know this will definitely help me to sleep at night. MAN! am I ever tired now? But you know I feel like I lost a pound just by working out for those 90 minutes tonight, weird!?!?!
