Panda Choked Today!

7th December, 2009

most of the links below go to pictures of Panda, that I posted on Twitter…

Today, I left Panda home alone for 2 hours while I helped out at Self Edit Technologies Inc.

I thought she’d be fine in her bed/kennel, since I had taken her on a 1K walk just after she had her breakfast.

When I came home, to the condo, I could hear her barking from the public foyer!

I thought, considering I hadn’t seen any other neighbors home, that this was a bad thing.

As soon as I got to the door and called out her name, she stopped barking, and all I could hear were the wags of her tail banging against the kennel walls.

Before taking off my shoes or coat I went in to see her and let her out, and that’s when I noticed she had projectiled her brunch through the kennel door and onto the living room floor. (I brought the kennel down to the living room from the baby’s bedroom so she could hang out and get to know the cats a bit more while I was gone.)

I cleaned that all up and realized she had choked on the dental rawhide bone I left for her to chew.

(Here’s more explaination about the caption for the picture that’s found at the link above:  the bed i made for her she wasn’t too happy about laying on yesterday because she prefers to lay beside me! Today, she laid sprawled out on the floor though for a couple seconds!! I think she’s getting more comfortable.)

She will no longer have those bones when unattended, and she will never be left home alone again!!

She comes with me everywhere, unless the neighbor’s home and I need a babysitter. The neighbor offered a couple times already…In fact, begged to! haha

I brought Panda over to the neighbor today to apologize for barking so loudly, in case she were home when Panda was being so loud, but she wasn’t and that’s good.

So I told the neighbor, that Panda just wanted to say that she was scared being all alone, and choking didn’t feel very good :(

I was sad that I had to do that ‘volunteer’ data-entry at the office, but now that I know what I’m to do, I can work from home! Yay!! Just what I like.

I really hope we get more sales both at Self Edit Technologies Inc. and at our cachingcontainers store, so that I can do THAT work and be with Panda always!

She is a dream come true :)

Oh and btw she ate ONLY dry food for Supper!! after puking up her wet/dry mix she had for Brunch.

Oh and she slept from 130am to 930am or so this morning.

I guess all that was needed was a mix of her old wet food with the new, so I am gradually switching her over to the dry food, and as a treat will give her the wet food. I LOVE seeing her eat the dry food, it’s SO MUCH cleaner and better for her too!! OR it could be that she’s getting more comfortable being with us now…I’m trying to get a routine down pat for her, so she knows what to expect, like I did for the cats. It makes training A LOT easier that way!

AND she and the cats are now drinking out of the same water bowl. Yay! Can’t wait to see them all eating together next.

After this horrific incident, I made sure to give her a nice warm bath (go here to see her after the bath) and cuddled her a lot to make her feel safe and loved. You can see daily updated photos of her and her smiles on Twitter, link on sidebar.

See you there,

Demara

Congratulations on your new puppy, I love her name! Your life sounds quite busy now, with all of your pets (and bones!).

Hey. I’m so glad that it worked out. How scarey and now good as you learn about what she needs. And great that you can be together. Yay!!
