Pristine

28th July, 2009

We are experiencing a heat wave right now (its the Summer season so I expect it) but boy is it ever steamy hot.
(i took the pic above in the Winter)

I’m sitting here in our bdrm with a fan and air filter going the windows are shut due to the construction that’s still going on outside. I’m sitting in my own sweat most likely losing weight as I workout my fingers on the keyboard.

But as i was sitting here I was thinking about the word ‘pristine’. How does dictionary.com define this word?

pris⋅tine  [pris-teen, pri-steen; especially Brit. pris-tahyn]
–adjective
1. having its original purity; uncorrupted or unsullied.
2. of or pertaining to the earliest period or state; primitive.

Two different Doctors have described my body as pristine. Once last year and once this year.

I’m not sure I had even heard this word as much before and I’m beginning to really like it, especially said by doctors, two to boot!!

A couple weeks ago I had something wrong with my one ear. It started while we were geocaching up in the Gold Country part of BC. I was afraid that a bug had crawled inside while we were in the bush searching for tupperware aka geocaching. So you can imagine my fear when my ear started to feel sewn shut!! It also became hard to hear out of and sore to the touch. (I use q-tips to clean my ears out and was a bit worried when I couldn’t even get the q-tip inside my one ear. I seriously thought it was a tumor or something.) all it was was a boil, a sign of ovulation. ha!

Yesterday I met with the Doctor, waited a week for the appointment, so no construction was going to stop me from making this VERY early appointment (anything in the morning is earlllly when you are not a morning person). Not only did I make this appointment for my ear but also for ‘you know’ a special little man or little woman test. To see if there were anyone inside of me. Something I doubted because tests are ALWAYS negative for me. Well have been for the first couple months I tested. Then I decided I won’t waste money on them anymore and just go in to see the Doctor for a free one. Thankful they are free there! It’s such a hassle though so then I thought maybe I’ll just go in when I feel someone kicking me inside. ha!

Last year, in May, I had a Laporoscopy done where they checked for any signs of Endometriosis. (what lovely scars I have from that. makes for a lovely bikini body. something I dream of having some day once again.) The results of that were negative and this a good thing. sort of.

I still feel like there’s something wrong with me every month, always have! I had to miss SO many days in school growing up and had to phone in sick to work so many times because of excrutianating pain.

This is when I weighed 125lbs…the weight I’d be happy weighing again…thats only a loss of about 50lbs!!! I did 40lbs in 4 months 2 yrs ago so this is entirely possible. can’t wait!!.

One time, in 1997, I woke up with such pain that I couldn’t speak, couldn’t move, but had to get help so slowly I pulled myself out of bed. and in a whisper scream called for my Mom.

It was about midnight.

I holding myself, said “pain”.

She thought it gas and ordered I take a suppository. I was 17!!!

You can only imagine how much pain I was in after that!!

not only was the pain where it was, but somewhere else too. lol

We finally ended up going to the hospital, to the ER and while waiting in the room, we prayed.

The Doctor came in asked me a few questions and then determined that I had the signs of an ruptured appendix.

I thought it odd that it went away by the time the Doctor came to look at it!

Only God knows how that happened.

Back to this word though. After having this surgery, we met with the Surgeon and he said, “everything looked pristine!”

pristine? really?!?! ok! nice.

So ya yesterday, my Doctor checked my ear and said, “everything looks ‘pristine”.

again. pristine?

Now I’m starting to think that maybe that is a Doctor’s favourite word when things are 100% normal for a patient.

So hence my survey here…I’m curious to know

is this a ‘Doctor’s most used word’ for a healthy patient.

Does your Doctor use this word?

My Doctor also took my worry away when he said that I SHOULD and CAN take my Symbicort (asthma medicine) while TTC and while pregnant. I was surprised by this and that he said I can do all the exercises I did/do before we started TTC. YEAH! so back to ab crunches, and everything else I like doing that I didn’t think would be safe! (I lost 60lbs wanna see? doing crazy stuff and then when we started TTC I gained 25lbs back because of depression, insomnia, and eating comfort foods. So yay, I’m excited to start losing weight again. Keeping my fingers crossed. I want to lose those 25 again plus the 40 I still wanted to lose!)

So I went from sadness and worry, to tears (while talking to the Doctor), to complete joy and left the Doctor’s office worry-free!!

(I will admit though that I am a tad bit scared for this ‘dye-test’ next week. Probably because I have no idea what to expect and that’s completely my fault for not asking him.)

I am PRISTINE and I’m thankful!!

First – I have to tell you that the picture is beautiful!
I’m glad everything is normal from your tests. I’ve never heard a Dr say a patients body was pristine. Maybe that’s a Canada term of speech!

I love the top picture. It’s gorgeous.

I’ve never had the word pristine used by the doctor either. Anyone else for that matter either. I agree with Mari, must be a Canadian term.

I think that dye test may be the one I had done many years ago when I was trying to have children before I had any. If you want to email me and talk, you have the addy.
