Tonight Jeff said, "get dressed, let’s go!"

I said, "Where are we going?"

He said, "It’s a surprise."

And knowing we are geocaching 90% of our life I dressed for it.

Got bundled up.

Got my new bag, which I’ll post soon!

and my hiking shoes on.

We climbed into our rental car, and headed out at 1am.

We went down windy roads and through the countryside heading toward the US/Canada border. (It’s a 15min drive away)

And that’s when he said, "ok get out!" He got out too…lol he didn’t just drop me off.

And I followed him across the street where he said, "squat down low".

And he snapped our picture…seen below here.

We were able to take our picture with two of these border marker monuments but we did find three.

While at the first monument photo, above, I fell in a hole!

This border marker was placed on the edge of a farmer’s field.

There was no fence.

Just road, field, and a bit of a dip.

So when I fell, I basically fell into Sumas, Washington!!

We were unable to get our picture with the third border marker we found because the US border patrol Officers sped down the road on the American side of this open country side (prob. saw me on camera falling/crossing the border illegally) shining their flood lights on us!

So we quickly shut the doors we had open and pulled our feet in, that we had ready to run out with, and drove away. Wondering if police were going to track us down and ask us what we were doing…

they never did.

And we went home to log our finds.

I love adventures don’t you?

What an adventure! I’m glad the border patrol is watching for criminals like you two!

  3. Hey Demara

Love your blog! We’ve talked on facebook before…do you remember, I asked you if Jeff Curnew was your husband and I had known him vaguely through Pat and Jared Miller? Then I thought, how interesting that you also know Danna, who I was child hood friends with, and we also both know the Klassens. My brother Bradley was good friends with Steven when they were in school, and Aimee and I have been friends for years. It’s a small world!
