A Tiny Hop Through Time
1st September, 2006A tiny hop through time has you go through the circle of a short time of my life. From an infant, to school, to new family and province and farm life, to baby brother, and back home again in the province I was born. Beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
This is me as a baby.
This is me at my favourite school ever.
Can you find me?
This is me wearing the red hat, I’m standing with my Step Sister here
on the farm in Saskatchewan, where I lived for a short time.
If you look closly in the background you can see the barn that was there.
The Barn
I loved this place. On the first floor it had all my Step Dad’s hunting equipment and a wooden table where he would bring his catch home (usually moose) to lay there and drip dry. So as usual there would be piles of blood all around the table on the floor. That’s not why I liked this place though. There was a wooden ladder on one wall that when you climbed it it led you to the upper floor where a bunch of hay was piled and laid out in just a way that my Step Sister (J) and I would climb. The highlight of this place though was the rope swing. The rope swing was made in such a way that it was on a pulley system. One end of it was attached near one of the end windows of the barn and the other in the center of the roof. It was so very fun to stand on the little step just under the window and grab hold of the rope handles to slide all the way down to the hay where you could jump off the swing and land comfortably in the hay. J and I had great times there. More stories to come some other time.
From left to right: Me, my mom with brother inside, and Step Sister.
Me and my half brother (A), isn’t he cute.
My adopted Grandpa, my brother (A) (at 6 years old) who’s way taller than I now (here he’s being lifted up by my Grandpa, he always loved this), me (at 16 years old, ten years ago) and my mom.
I liked the picture of you in the wicker chair. Too cute! and no I have no idea where you are in the school picture…I didn’t even know you could get those!?!?!?! Cool!!!
Yup, that school may have been one of a kind. Every morning the whole school would meet to sing “Oh Canada” and then we would all do aerobics for a half hour before class started. I loved that school! Our Principle would even share his cup of noodles with me too. We had a candy shop in the gym with gummie bears for a penny. It was so very fun there. That picture was taken in 1987, at Dewdney Elem., in BC Canada. Fun times!
How sick is your brother, if I may ask?
I don’t feel comfortable going into details, but he is very sick.
I wish they still say O Canada in school! Oops! I should have checked the blog rules…I think this is a no-no…that is typing on a post that is older than the latest one? Eeck! Sorry!
Danna, NO THAT’S OK HERE. I don’t mind. You are welcome to post on any.
