The Perfect Church and Today
19th February, 2009So like Danni I’m curious, what is the perfect church to you? Is there such thing? Do you believe you need to attend a church? How do you feel about the subject of "church"? Is it a sensitive issue for you? Have you been hurt by the "church"?? And therefore, have negative feelings toward it?

Here is my response to Danni that I thought you might be interested in reading.
hmm…ya we haven’t "really" been planted per say at a "home" church yet as a couple.
Jeff’s church is gone, "fell apart" and mine is too "big".
So we wait for God to bring people to us, that will invite us to their church.
You had a lot of questions there. All I know is that I want church to be a place of worship, value, and love.
I don’t want to feel pressured or judged if I miss a Sunday or a few Sundays. I like there to be activities to do outside the church. I hate that the "church" is so stuck to a "building". I wish there was a "hiking" outdoors church we could attend. So that we could worship God out in his "garden" of creation. Like the "Garden of Eden" where Adam and Eve stood naked before God and eachother. Not that I would want to attend a nudist church by any means, just that figuratively we could stand naked with our sin on a plate, saying here God, here brothers and sisters, these are my issues can you still love me?
I think that would be the perfect "church".
Later on that day…
Here you can see one of our recent finds while geocaching today.

We hiked a lot of cliffs in search of a tiny hide here, but couldn’t find it.

Looking down one of the cliffs at this park.

Look at that fallen tree down in this gully. I can’t believe we hiked all the way around this park and then back around the "right" way toward the hidden cache that we couldn’t find.

We did however find some lovely roots though.

One of the 5 treasures we found today was on top of this hill. Can you see our van down below? We were quite high up. It was a beautiful day today, the sun was shining and for a short moment throughout the day I was able to go jacketless in the Winter! I love hiking up steep hills!!
I do believe you should have a home church. I think the bible tells us to gather with fellow believers. i don’t know the scriptures off the top of my head. No church is ever going to be perfect b/c we as humans are not perfect so you can not expect a church run by humans to be perfect. I think the attitude you have attending the church will make all the difference. i think if you are waiting for people to invite you…you should rethink that, you should be seeking what God has for you. There are so many amazing churches to visit and one will feel like home for you. We spent a few years finding the one that we now call home. I think it’s important to commit to a church, that is where your base is, where you should be tithing and where your support is if you need it. But nothing will fall into your hands, you need to make a go of it. You need to get involved in a small group for the support and care. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. I hope you can find a church that fits your needs….there are plenty in our town to choose from. Have you tried the meeting place? We’ve visited there a few times and love it! Just a little small for us, or the bridge i hear is very good. it’s up to you to find what fits the two of you….don’t rely on someone else to find it for you! Best of luck in your search! We saw some pretty interesting churches during our search and the ones that we did like we went to for a few weeks/months to get a better idea as one sunday isn’t something you can always judge the church on.
I think it’s important to have your own church. First, it says in the Bible not to neglect meeting with each other. Second, I think it helps us be accountable to each other and third it helps build us up and give us the chance to help build others up. It’s not a sensitive subject for me. We did go through a hard time in our church a few years go, but we stuck it out and are so glad we did. It actually turned out to be a time of spiritual growth for my husband and I. Like the other person who commented, I don’t think you should wait for someone to invite you – you should pray about it and then go visit some churches. I think God will lead you to the one that is right for you and Jeff. PS – great pictures – I especially like the root one.
