The Scenic Route
5th February, 2009
On our geocaching walk we saw this cute bloated little mouse and I’ll admit that I really wanted to touch it just to make sure it was dead. It looked so perfect laying there, just wet ok and maybe a little cold, but I guess I am a doubting Thomas when it comes to cute furry things. I wanted to touch it just to make sure it was cold!
Here we are in one of the coldest spots we went caching. It was really nice, sunny and pretty-much snow-free before we entered this park, and the further we went up into it, the colder and colder it got (and this day I just so happen to wear a more spring-like jacket because it was warm outside of this park) , and then we saw this patch of snow, and it went on and on. It seriously felt like you entered a new world. I felt like I was on the "Lion Witch and the Wardrobe" or something and we had just walked through the closet! I’m not sure why the picture is clearer without us in it, but below here you can see how much snow was on the ground in this park.
This is something else we found at this park. Do you see what Jeff and I saw right away? Maybe you have to have been there to really see it. But I’m curious so I’ll let you guess here and I’ll let you know if you are right in the comments, I’ll wait a couple days and then I’ll answer your comments.
The sun was out today and it was beautiful. It’s surprising that we will be expecting snow next week. I was actually enjoying our 10 degrees celsisus weather we’ve been having, and so am not looking forward to the snow.
We weren’t the only ones out in this gorgeous weather. I can’t even remember the last time I saw one of these caterpillars. But I remember them as a child. I remember there were bunches of 10 usually dead all over the roads or sidewalks. And now I maybe see one a year. And this one was alive!!!
so the quality isn’t the best.
Well thanks for coming along with us on a couple of our walks. This was 2 caches. We did a total of 4 today and you got to see glimpses of what we saw in a matter of an hour. We walked for two hours total. And most of that time was spent climbing over sticks, branches, logs, and mud. It was a great day! I love hiking, crawling through the bush searching, but most of all I enjoy finding that which we’re looking for. Today, out of the 4 we found 2. GPS was temporarily unavailable for a bit. And if you go out without a mobile gps system, you should know that it is much more difficult, but a lot more of a work out, because you spend more time climbing, crouching, and walking. So have you gone out caching yet? If so, I’d love to hear about it!!!
What beautiful pictures! I think it looks like a little person huddled up next to the tree!
Looks like you had loads of fun on your walk.
ok so I waited a bit more than a couple days here. But Jeff and I saw exactly what you see Mari! A person, a naked person, hugging the tree!!
