Praying In Color

1st December, 2008
I just read on Madison’s blog the other day about this really neat idea. "Praying in Color"

I was so inspired that I went out today and bought myself the "praying in color" supplies, seen below. a sketch book, scented markers and a variety of fine tipped markers. (as a child i so badly wanted scented markers, but never got them, so at 28 years old i finally bought some and LOVE THEM!)

and I started to get down and dirty (I am a dirty sinner. I hope in your eyes we all are, but through prayer we can find forgiveness.).

This is one of my November prayers, my first creation!
I distorted it though, because the words are personal.

Isn’t this just the best idea ever?!?!?

If I were you, I’d visit Madison’s blog to see what she’s created, and on her post: "Color Me Happy" there’s a link to the "Praying In Color" book’s website, where Madison got the idea from. On this book’s website you’ll see SO many really neat prayers through art!!!!

Please come back after to let me know what you thought of their art, and this idea?!?!? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this,

That’s a neat idea. I clicked through to the websites, and then to someone else’s that had examples. I think I’d have to read the book to understand it completely. I’m a little too left-brain for this concept to jump off the page and grab me right off.

  6. Demara,

Thanks so much for getting the word out on praying in color! I find myself doing this so much lately, it’s kind of like the “secret doodler” in me now has a purpose! I often feel like drawing or coloring and doodling and now rather than feeling guilty about it, I purposely turn my attention to prayer while I’m drawing, inserting peoples’ names or just words about God’s faithfulness or whatever comes to mind!

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it really has helped me tremendously to focus my prayers while creating something beautiful in the process.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying it!

    Blessings,
    Madison
