The “Smoke Ghost” Runner

27th November, 2008
I really like Mochi Vanilla Ice-Cream balls. A sushi restaurant we frequent gave us a whole-brand-new-package of 12 of them as a thank-you gift last week.

So last week, we picked up our ordered sushi and brought home these mochi balls to stick in the freezer. They are a great dessert, partly because they are 80 calories each, and mostly because they taste good!

As you can see, I’m trying to distract myself from the awful feeling I have now, since our new neighbor’s cigarette smoke entered our home.

I use food, sometimes, still as a distraction. Especially, now so, since my "cat-free haven" aka. "farthest room from the fridge" is a smokehouse.

as well as a prequel to what you will read further.

warning:
what you are about to read
is me being very cynical and very serious

The Life of the Smoke Ghost Runner

This constant playing cat and mouse with the fleeting "smoke ghost runner"
is really gettin to me.

I run upstairs, fleeing from the cats.
I open the door to the "cat-free haven" and discover
the "smoke ghost" is dwelling, resting on the air, up there.

So I firmly shut the door, and scoot downstairs struggling for air.
Fleeing the "smoke ghost".
I sit, catching my breath,
half erected, parched and arched over, staring at the tv screen waiting,
breathing in the "smoke ghost’s" remains,
Until it quickly whisps it’s way into my face,
scraping out my throat of what little moisture is left,
and wiping my runny nose all over me, it laughs.

Breathing in health, blowing out death, and snuffing out any life it encounters!
This is the life the smoke ghost runner pursues.

What is the smoke ghost runner mostly afraid of?
but, Quitters and Smoke-Free Signs and Environments, of course.

I am praying our neighbor quits soon, and destroys this ghost forever!
Amen

I gotta go blow my nose now, it’s tickling down my hairy nose skin.

Oh and by the way, I saw Santa’s reindeer Rudolph today! You will never believe where though. In my mirror, staring back at me!!!

You poor red nosed girl! I was hoping the day would go a little better.

Hi Demara, just checking up on you! Sorry that you’ve had to deal w/ smoke — I just hate the smell of smoke. I can’t understand how people can smoke, except that I know it’s addicting. My friend smokes and it just drives me around the bend! But old smoke gives me a headache (in her car). Cats make me itch, but I don’t have breathing problems around them. I like the colours of your jacket. What does it say on it? D

It says "Vancouver Canucks", which is the name of the hockey team Jeff and I cheer for.

I just read back to see what the smoke was about. Smoke is really bad for me too, but I don’t have asthma to complicate it. Or allergies to my cat. I know the feeling about not wanting to share walls though. Hope you’re able to move soon.
