collage includes some food I’ve liked this week.
This week we’ve been kept busy with caching as usual, especially since Mtn-Man the Approver and Publisher of caches in our area has been releasing new caches.
We found 8 caches in the last 4 days and dnf’ed (did not find) 1. I’ve included a couple pictured in the collage.
Canada Day, July 1st, was gorgeously sunny and on our way to the ‘trailhead’ of this particular cache the wind was magnificent and strong.
The Landstrom Ridge cache had quite the trail.
I told Jeff that day before we headed out that I didn’t want to do any bush-whacking and that I was ’sick of’ caching, that I needed a break and so on, but he was so excited and determined to FTF (first to find) it that I not so ‘happily’ joined him in pursuit. He assured me that there was a nice trail too so once we got to GZ I was surprised to see, what ‘I thought’ did not look nice, nope not nice at all, the torturous trail head probably more tortureous at the time because I did not want to be there :P.
To begin with, there was a HUGE pile of rocks that you had to climb over, walk through in order to get to the ‘trailhead’. A good 4×4 couldn’t even do those rocks! And then there was what Jeff proclaimed was “THE TRAILHEAD” that looked bush-whacked and overgrown. :(
Once through the trees and down the slim dirt path we were met by the shadowy dark, surrounded by trees, and overgrown stinging nettles. We pushed our way through I’m glad I wore pants and a thin jacket, Jeff wore shorts the plantation to another opening, where we were confronted by train tracks, we followed our GPS and walked in the direction of the compass to another huge cement boulder that had flagging tape on it. Jeff said, “this is it, let’s go!” We crossed the tracks and Jeff easily stepped up, onto and over this cement slab that was as high as his knees. Then he offered his hand and I used all my thigh muscles to pull myself up onto this slab and over. There before us was the other much more dedicated longer part of this trail. Again though it did not look very popular in all it’s glory, with sticks and debris lining it’s path! But we trudged along anyway. Swarms of mosquitoes enlightened our way, drenched in bug spray and all they found us yummy! Scratching our way up the steep-er hills and rocky slopes we made our way until 45mins up or so Jeff had to lay down. He said, “uh oh. Something’s wrong!” I said, “ok let’s take a picture.” Snapped it and then he pushed me out of the way as he hung over a log and puked! Now we know how he looks just before he’s sick :P
‘great!’ I’m thinking ‘you better not be dieing on me’. Then he said, “I’m dying”. lol ‘awesome’ I said seeing that he looked pale, like when he got blood work done before=faint material, I said, “lay down! put your jacket behind your head!” He laid down and said, “I’m thirsty”. I said, “well I have some gum, that will get your salivary glands going, and you can drink that!!” He said, “ok”. He HATES gum! So he was hesitant at first
5 mins later and he was up and at ‘em again, and we proceeded to conquer this mountain.
To make a long story short we DID conquer it, found the cache too and discovered we were not FTF but STF (second to find) and because Jeff lost his sunglasses on the way up this mountain we decided to head back down the way we had come up instead of continuing on the loop the wrapped around this rock face to three other caches we could have gotten STF on.
I was glad we were heading back too because it was a long day, especially long because I didn’t want to be there, in the first place. I was suffering from a possible miscarriage and was sadden by it…
P.S.
You may have noticed the additional drop down box I created for posts/chapters. It holds EVERY SINGLE post I’ve written on my blog since I first started blogging in 2006!! I’m hoping it’ll make things here real simple and handy for you. I know I’m liking it already :)

It took me a minute to find the drop-down box to find the posts I’d missed, but I found it! It is easy!!!
