My Step Dad paid for me to take Figure Skating Lessons in 1989. This is me just after performing the “Heard it Through the GrapeVine” Ice-Capade.
You are welcome to copy its entirety except for the photo of course.
Please insert your own photo there! Perferrably a photo of you in one of the activities.
THX! I can’t wait to see :)
Kindergarten: I was in Girl Guides, and loved playing in the school’s indoor Sandbox, plus I collected Bottle Caps.
Grade 1: I wasn’t in anything but rrrreally wanted to be a Ballerina. It was too expensive, so I road a bike around instead and still collected the caps.
Grade 2: I was heavily into Track and Field. Loved running. Loved Terry Fox. Did the Terry Fox run. And won ribbons.
Grade 3: Took one year of figure skating. Learned to do a short twirl (maybe single axle, can’t remember what it was called now) in the air. Was so proud of myself for that. Loved skating! Was introduced to Volleyball and the Mac Computer/Keyboard. Learned to type and bump the ball.
Grade 4: My Step Dad paid for my Step Sister and I to have swimming lessons. I had to stop at Level 4 because of ear problems. I played Recorder and loved music. I still rode bike (taught myself to ride without hands).
Grade 5: Played more Volleyball. Learned to serve underhand. But I climbed trees more than I played Volleyball.
Grade 6: I loved Soccer, probably because I was very good at it. Also, still loved to run and loved the swing. I was taught how to properly set a volleyball this year.
Grade 7: We moved a lot this year, so in between the 3 different schools I fell in love with the swing-set.
Grade 8: Joined the Volleyball team. I was a Digger. Served Underhand still. Started playing the Clarinet in Band and still loved playing the Recorder.
Grade 9: Moved to a new school. Loved Judo, being a goalie in Hockey, weight-lifting. I didn’t make the Volleyball team though. But loved the sport so much and told the Coach so. She said, “if you come to every practice and every game this year I’ll add you to the team next year.” I did!! And learned to serve overhand.
Grade 10: I made the Volleyball team!! Again I was a Digger but also a Server. I would mostly be subbed in to Serve, because I got our team the most points with them!
Grade 11: This was my Academic year. I decided to not play sports and focus on Biology, Japanese, and Accounting.
Grade 12: This was my FUN year. Very non-Academic. I was in everything I LOVED. Japanese, Acting, Career Prep (had a couple work experience jobs), and I signed up for Lifeskills-Sports (I think thats what it was called). Where all the activities were out of school. Things like: Bowling, Swimming, Hiking, Ice Skating, Kayaking, Skiing and so forth. It was expensive and all the extra-ly expensive activities I wasn’t able to try/or do, like the Kayaking, River Rafting and Skiing. Plus, my Mom wouldn’t allow me TO do them.
I spent time at my favourite Camp, every Summer. My favourite acitivity there was the singing, skits, running games, Chapel and Campfire.
Bible College: I joined Choir/Acting and toured around BC and Alberta. I was on the Volleyball Team and it was so much fun!
University: I focused more on my Academics, plus there was no gym on Campus yet, but I had a lot of fun with my “Children’s” class. I was in the Library and Information Technology Program (currently: have one Semester, 4 classes left, till I get a Diploma-not sure I’ll finish), so it was in this class where we got to read Children”s books aloud to our peers ‘adults’, make puppets, crafts, skits, and sing songs. It was a lot of fun!!
2nd University: I studied how to teach English as a Second Language and graduated. My favourite activity was the teaching, lesson planning just took way too long. I loved standing up at the front of the class, at the white board, ‘drawing’ out the lesson.
I am focused on technology (work/academics) and losing weight.
For activities: I read, write, weight-lift, run, hike, walk and geocache.
But I still dream of being that Ballerina!
