Happy Canada Day!

July first, Canada Day, is a holiday where I live and this holiday weekend was spent visiting with one of my Dad’s sisters. Her name is Marlene, she’s an Artist, her link is on my sidebar if you’d like to learn more about that!

It was such a good visit that we forgot to pull out the camera. Or else I would have a lovely picture up here of us all.

I was in shock that she had driven 4 hrs all by her lonesome just to visit with us and other family. I was so hyper-ly excited too, to see her. Didn’t know what to say though. And I didn’t want to remain quiet because she’s not over at our place very often. So I got all the words into our visit that I could. *Sorry Marlene*

We talked and talked AND talked at our place, we showed her the wii fit, and then we all went out for Bubble Tea. It was her first time having it. And she said it was refreshing. It has been extremely hot the last couple days so the ice cold slushy drink with tapioca balls AKA pearls was well needed.

This is some background information, so that you can understand-why I would have been so excited to see Marlene but not know what to say…

Since my Dad chooses not to see me, it is such a privilege for me to see his side of the family because then I feel like I’ve seen a bit of him. When I see his sisters and/or parents it just brings me a step closer to him and his character. I’m told he’s compassionate, caring and very quiet. I’ve only seen him 3 times in my life, that I can remember. I really would like to "meet" him, to see what characteristics we have in common, but his life is complicated and has been ever since he remarried-my step mom.

It was a good weekend, despite rustling up all the emotional baggage and the overwhelming feelings. (When I think or hear about  my Dad, my heart beats really fast-maybe even skips a beat.. Don’t know why this is, but maybe his will too when or if we see each other again.)  I think it’s healthy that I visit with my Dad’s side, even though it is so overwhelming. I’m overjoyed that it can now be a reality for me, too. Now that I’m of age to make my own choices, (don’t have to involve my mom-who didn’t want me visiting with them). I’m glad I married a strong man too, who can understand me and my life/upbringing. Did you know that when I met these relatives, I felt like I was meeting strangers that I had things in common with? And it’s kind of strange that both Jeff and I basically met these people at the same time and know them about the same amount. But I’m glad I don’t have to feel abandoned anymore! I have family. And we have a "Mennonite" heritage!  I have a Mennonite heritage. Thanks to my cousin Andrew and his wife Marie (there link is on my sidebar) for inviting me to their wedding!!! That’s when I and Jeff became part of the family!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend whether or not you had a holiday. Remember you are not alone, even when you feel like you are. God IS with you, hovering over you with his angels, celebrating your life. When he made you he said "It is good". I prefer to think he said it like this though: "It is GOOD" almost like the "frosted flakes" tiger says on the Kellogg’s commercial "it is Grrreat!" Haha God loves you and created you to be His, for eternity.

See you there, if not sooner on Earth.

We watched fire works from our backyard for Canada day. Earlier in the day we walked to the grand opening of the new water park and had free hot dogs and ice cream for supper. Peter worked but was able to be home before the fire works. We also let out kids stay up 3 hours late to watch them. Wow, are we tired today.

I also realized today who Jeff is. I’ve met him before when we lived in your area and I think Peter went to school with him. I knew Peter knew who he is but I didn’t realize that I had met him before.

Thanks for your comment Demara. I am going to e-mail Jeff and ask about setting up a domain for us. I might wait a couple of weeks though. How do you upload your pictures? You wouldn’t need to use an outside source, would you? It needs to be easy to navigate or I won’t ever use it. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Thanks for visiting my blog, Jill is a great companion for walking she keeps me in line! She even pushed me to walk further today, I just wish it wasn’t so hot at 7 am! Good luck on your weight loss.

Thanks for the reminder that God celebrates our lives! What a great way to put it. I will try to keep that in mind today, as I wipe dirty bums and clean bathrooms!! :)
